Everton’s hopes of re-signing Barcelona starlet receive further boost

first_img Gerard Deulofeu in action for Sevilla 1 Everton have been put on red alert after Sevilla coach Unai Emery criticised the performances of Gerard Deulofeu and said he is not guaranteed a place at the Spanish club.Roberto Martinez has been strongly linked with a move for the talented winger, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Goodison Park last season.Deulofeu returned to Barcelona during the summer and it came as a major surprise when he was allowed to join Sevilla on loan. But the 20-year-old is struggling to produce his best form with the La Liga side and reports in Spain suggest that Barcelona are concerned over his lack of playing time and will review his season-long loan in January. That could bring Everton back into the equation and with Sevilla coach Emery refusing to pick him until he changes his attitude, things seems unlikely to change in the near future.Emery said: “Regardless of the contract, I only select my top XI. If for now he’s playing a little less, it does not mean that next month he will play more.“The club does not obligate me to do anything, all players are equal. His selection will come with the process of improvement. I hope he does, because it is a challenge we have set.“We want him to improve his overall game – his team play and defensive actions.”last_img
