Beharry spins Everest to 26-run win over GCC

first_imgHOSTS Everest Cricket Club (ECC) prevailed in a low-scoring encounter over powerhouse Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by 26 runs in the GCA/American Youth Premier Cricket League Under-19 Cricket competition yesterday.Everest bowlers, led by off-spinner, former Berbice Under-15 player Aaron Beharry, produced an excellent effort in defending their total of 91 all out in 22.3 overs.Beharry claimed 5-16, while Raynaldo Mohamed (3-23) and Chandanand Dowlatram (2-26) supported Beharry well.At the start of the day’s play, Everest total was built around Anel Tilku, who top-scored with 27 with six boundaries. Alex Algoo and Beharry contributed 17 runs apiece. A. Persaud was the best bowler for the visitors with figures of 5-12.In reply, the run chase never got going, and GCC folded for just 65 in 22 overs. R. Phillips made 28 while R. Singh struck a 3-ball 11, to be the two top-scorers.last_img
